A software engineer and former public servant warns the Federal Government's handling of data is a 'national scandal'. Samuel Spencer has revealed to 7News podcast The Issue that the Finance Department is using excel spreadsheets to track trillions of dollars in government Budget spending. He fears it makes the information vulnerable to a data breach. The Department of Finance says, "the referenced documents are internal, administrative documents, separate from the Central Budget Management System.
