Thousands of protesters marched through New York City on Friday, demanding an end to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in the city after a federal agent shot a Dominican man during an attempted arrest in Marble Hill, with the man's five-year-old son inside the vehicle. Demonstrators gathered at Foley Square and chanted “ICE out of NY” and “Abolish ICE”, while calling for the agent to be prosecuted, an independent investigation and the release of footage from the incident. New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the agent fired seven rounds at the vehicle, striking the driver in the neck; the child was unharmed. ICE said the driver had rammed two agency vehicles and accelerated towards officers, while Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin said agents did not know a child was inside the car. Mayor Zohran Mamdani condemned the shooting and urged President Donald Trump to halt ICE operations in the city, saying residents wanted federal immigration off
