The Trump administration has suspended Microsoft, Adobe and other major IT firms from a green card program that allows skilled foreign workers to gain permanent residency in the United States. U.S. Vice President Vance said that as a “great American company”, Microsoft needs to hire “great American workers.” Vance also alleged that American workers were being replaced by “foreign indentured servants.” India, which has several large IT firms and other tech companies included in the suspension from PERM, has accused Vance of using “terminology that carries painful historical and colonial legacy connotations,” which was “deeply offensive.” Under the Permanent Labor Certification program (PERM), employers seek certification from the Department of Labor that there is no qualified, willing or available U.S. worker for a specific job, before filing petitions for an employment-based green card. #shorts Watch CGTN LIVE on your computer, tablet or mobile https://www.cgtnnow.com/featured/e
