Ben Affleck and Kerry Washington join MovieWeb’s Joe Deckelmeier to discuss Netflix’s 'Animals,' the intense new thriller directed and co-written by Affleck. Affleck explains what he wanted the morally complicated ending to say about truth, power, compromise, and ambition, while Washington reveals how collaborative the rehearsal process became — including actors helping reshape and rewrite scenes. Affleck also credits Washington as essentially a “co-director” in developing Mark and Abigail’s marriage. Affleck also addresses Matt Damon’s viral comments about Netflix and distracted viewers, explaining that the conversation was framed very differently from what they were actually saying, while both stars discuss the creative freedom Netflix gave the production. 'Animals' stars Ben Affleck, Kerry Washington, Steven Yeun, Gillian Anderson, Adriana Paz, and Luis Gerardo Méndez, and premieres on Netflix October 9.
