Something inside our Milky Way is producing a mysterious signal every 44 minutes. Known as ASKAP J1832−0911, this strange long-period transient releases powerful radio bursts for roughly two minutes before disappearing again. Even more surprisingly, NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory detected X-rays repeating on the same 44-minute cycle. Astronomers initially considered explanations involving pulsars, magnetars, and highly magnetic white dwarfs, but none of the early models could fully explain the object’s unusual behavior. Now, new research suggests ASKAP J1832−0911 may come from an extreme white-dwarf binary system — but the theory has not yet been conclusively proven. In this video, we investigate the mysterious 44-minute space signal, how it was discovered, why its synchronized radio and X-ray pulses shocked astronomers, and what the latest evidence could finally reveal about one of the strangest objects in our galaxy. Could ASKAP J1832−0911 represent an entirely new type of stellar
