In September, an ITV News investigation uncovered how thousands of people in a town in India have developed cancer and serious lung diseases as a result of toxic waste being dumped by a British company. More than a million tonnes of soil in Kymore, a small town in Madhya Pradesh, have been contaminated with asbestos. Now, the leader of the opposition in Madhya Pradesh has visited the site to speak with residents and schoolchildren about how it is impacting their lives. This is the first time a major politician has been involved in the issue, while a team from the State Pollution Control Board has also visited Kymore to take samples for testing. #india #asbestos #pollution
