Russia has issued a fiery warning at the United Nations, accusing European leaders of preparing their populations for a potential full-scale war with Moscow by 2030. Russian UN Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya branded European leaders “deranged” and accused Western governments of prolonging the war in Ukraine. But Ukraine hit back, with Ambassador Andrii Melnyk accusing Moscow of escalating attacks on civilians and dismissing Russia’s claims as lies. The heated UN Security Council confrontation also saw Russia reject allegations of deliberately targeting Ukrainian civilians and blame Ukrainian attacks for disrupting agricultural and fertiliser shipments. Meanwhile, the UN warned that continued attacks on civilians and energy infrastructure could leave millions facing power cuts and freezing conditions this winter.
