A group of lawyers detained during a protest outside the Supreme Court in New Delhi on October 10, 2026, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, were released after nearly two hours. The lawyers were taken to the Yamuna Sports Complex before being released following interventions by the Supreme Court Bar Association and the Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association. The associations urged Chief Justice of India Surya Kant to intervene. The lawyers’ bodies raised concerns over the reported use of excessive force, the detention of women advocates and restrictions on peaceful protests, citing constitutional protections for freedom of expression and assembly. #supremecourtbarassociationelection #supremecourtlawyersdetained #cecgyaneshkumar Video by: Saif Ali Ekram Thank you for watching our video!
