A group of five teenagers launched a violent rampage inside a family-run bottle shop in Narellan Vale, Sydney's southwest, attacking the owner Santiago and his mother before members of the public intervened and detained a 13-year-old suspect. The teenager was charged with theft offences relating to both this incident and an alleged robbery in Mount Annan earlier this year. Retail theft across New South Wales has increased by over 10 per cent in the last two years, marking the biggest jump across all major offence categories.
