Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has launched a sharp attack on the European Union’s energy policy, accusing Brussels of prioritising sanctions and political rhetoric over Europe’s economic interests. Speaking on Saturday, Fico contrasted the EU’s restrictions on Russian energy with a reported agreement between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin to bring Russian diesel back onto American and global markets. He argued that while European countries continue to bear the cost of sanctions and worry about fuel shortages, Washington and Moscow are pursuing their own national interests. Fico also warned that Europeans could eventually end up buying expensive American diesel made from Russian-origin oil, describing the situation as an example of what he called the EU’s failure to understand global realities. #robertfico #slovakia #europeanunion #russiandiesel #russia #donaldtrump #vladimirputin #euenergypolicy #russiasanctions #energycrisis #dieselprices #ukrain
