On 7 October 2026 Mike Rogers, the Republican nominee for the United States Senate in Michigan, released a thirty-second advertisement. It opens on a bottle of Labatt — a Canadian brand — and shows him in a flannel shirt on a bar stool at Bigg's Bar and Grill in Chesterfield Township. He says people in Michigan know Canada is not an enemy, and that the tariff fight has to end now. He never says Donald Trump's name. And in August, and again as recently as last month, he was calling the same tariffs necessary. Asked about the advertisement, the President did not hear it as dissent. "I viewed him as saying that he thinks Canada should make a deal," he said — and then: "Canada's been ripping off our country for many, many years... We don't need Canada for anything." Every quotation in this video is from the published record and is read out as it was said. Where something is unknown, the film says it is unknown. #DonaldTrump #MikeRogers #Michigan #CanadaUSTradeWar #Tariffs #MarkCarney #C
