President Trump is facing bipartisan criticism for his diesel deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin. On Friday, Trump said Putin agreed in a call to "immediately supply" more than 300,000 tons of diesel to global energy markets, with another 500,000 tons promised in November. Several senators — including four Republicans — called for Trump to "immediately reverse course" on the plan, adding: "The United States should not provide Putin with a financial lifeline while Russia continues to kill Ukrainian civilians." Meanwhile, Trump said Sunday that Russia and Ukraine agreed to an "energy ceasefire" effective immediately. The president offered no additional details and Moscow did not immediately comment. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his country welcomed the ceasefire but added that Russian attacks on energy infrastructure in Ukraine continue.
