A 24-year-old fisherman, Tristan Rogers, caught a 217-kilogram Pacific bluefin tuna after a five-and-a-half-hour battle 80 kilometres off East Gippsland near Lakes Entrance. The two-and-a-half-metre monster is believed to be a Victorian record and the second-biggest tuna caught on a rod and reel in all of Australia. The massive catch has left Rogers and his mates with an abundance of tuna to consume.
