The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is back at the centre of a showdown in Delhi, with leaders claiming to have reclaimed Jantar Mantar before being detained by the police. The confrontation comes a day after Delhi Police removed Jantar Mantar from the list of designated protest sites and assigned three alternative venues: Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in East Delhi. The CJP is demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. With the party asserting its right to peaceful protest, the battle over where demonstrations can be held is intensifying.
