When she lost her father in 2020, Lavenia Chandrahasan put her dreams of becoming a counsellor on hold. But she found a way to keep his memory alive — through a nail salon she started in her HDB flat. She named her home-based business Nailed’Cha!, after her late father, whom she affectionately called “Cha”. But building a business in her Ang Mo Kio home has meant sacrifices for the whole family. Lavenia gave up her bedroom and sometimes works 10-hour days, with barely time for lunch between appointments. Her older brother, Shoban, has had to adjust to having less privacy at home. “Even though strangers come to my house, I find that it's for my daughter, let her be happy,” says her mother, G Santha Mary. Watch how Lavenia and her family make their home-based business work on On The Red Dot. #CNAInsider #OnTheRedDot #Singapore #Singaporean #HDBSingapore #HomeBasedBusiness #SmallBusiness #NailSalon #Manicure #Pedicure #HBBSingapore For more, SUBSCRIBE to CNA INSIDER! https://cna.
