Drones struck ships in the Black Sea near Bulgaria, sinking one vessel and triggering emergency rescue operations, Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev said on October 13. A distress signal was received at around 1:30 a.m. from a ship about 18 nautical miles east of Byala, where Bulgarian Border Police rescued all 15 crew members, including seven Ukrainians and eight Azerbaijanis. Five people suffered minor injuries, Radev said. A separate vessel was struck east of Krapets and subsequently sank, with one crew member rescued, while the fate of others aboard was not immediately clear. Radev said three ships had now been hit in incidents near Bulgarian territorial waters and called the attacks unacceptable. Bulgaria has sought assistance from NATO and the European Union to investigate the strikes. Radev said there was no conclusive evidence identifying the country responsible, although he argued that Russia could benefit from the attacks, and announced plans to summon the Russian ambassad
