Prime Minister Andy Burnham said on The Rest Is Politics podcast that Russia interfered in the 2016 Brexit vote, the first PM to say so openly, though he gave no evidence. The Daily Mail reports he is now in retreat, with Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage attacking the claim. Johnson said in 2020 there was no evidence of interference, and a 2020 parliamentary report found the government never established whether Russia meddled. Russia denies it.
