Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller says the surge in long-term US Treasury yields is helping to curb demand in interest-rate-sensitive sectors such as housing and automobiles, doing some of the work of tighter monetary policy. “When yields go up, is that going to impact interest-sensitive sectors like housing and autos and other things? Yeah, of course it is,” Waller said at Bloomberg’s New Economy Forum in New Delhi on Tuesday. While that isn’t the Fed’s intention, higher yields are “doing a little bit of the work,” he said. Waller spoke with Bloomberg's Saleha Mohsin. -------- Watch Bloomberg Radio LIVE on YouTube Weekdays 7am-6pm ET Saturday & Sunday 7am-10am ET WATCH HERE: http://bit.ly/3vTiACF Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/BloombergRadio Subscribe to our Podcasts: Bloomberg Daybreak: http://bit.ly/3DWYoAN Bloomberg Surveillance: http://bit.ly/3OPtReI Bloomberg Intelligence: http://bit.ly/3YrBfOi Balance of Power: http://bit.ly/3OO8eLC Bloomb
