At least one person was killed and several others injured in a Russian attack on Kyiv's Desnianskyi district on Tuesday, according to Ukraine's State Emergency Service. The strike sparked a major fire across multiple floors of a residential apartment building, prompting firefighters and emergency workers to evacuate residents and treat the injured. Survivors described explosions shattering windows and debris injuring people inside their homes. Resident Andrii Parkhomchuk said he rushed his children into a corridor when an air raid alert sounded, before returning to help others. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russian ballistic missiles had also targeted Kyiv's energy infrastructure, including the CHPP-4 combined heat and power plant. He criticised the lack of advance warning from international partners, saying Ukrainian detection systems identified the missiles only shortly before they approached the capital. The attack adds to concerns over civilian safety and air defence
