Doctors have removed the lower lobe of Pope Leo's right lung after confirming it was cancerous during surgery. Pre-operative tests suggested a diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma, which was proved correct during the 90-minute surgery, the Vatican said in a medical bulletin after the operation. "The surgery was successful, and there were no complications," the statement said. The pope was admitted to Rome's Gemelli Hospital on Tuesday, local time, for surgery to remove the growth, which doctors found during a recent health check-up. #Pope #Cancer #Vatican #CatholicChurch Note: In most cases, our captions are auto-generated. #ABCNEWS #ABCNEWSAustralia
