Confusion among first responders and Tennessee prison officials following the botched execution of death row inmate Christa Pike resulted in emergency help being delayed, 911 dispatch recording reveal. Pike, 50, survived two doses of pentobarbital on September 30, in what is thought to be a first in US history, and was taken to hospital unconscious and on a ventilator. She is now walking and eating, but was left with burns and blisters on her arm from the failed attempt. The recordings, obtained on Monday by the Associated Press through a public records request, show that precious minutes elapsed as officials and responders tried to figure out whether a request for emergency help in the execution chamber was legitimate. • Subscribe to ITV News on YouTube: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj • Get breaking news and more stories at http://www.itv.com/news Follow ITV News on TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@itvnews?lang=en Follow ITV News on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/itvnews/ Follow ITV
