Migrant crossings in the English Channel are at the centre of a heated debate over border enforcement, deterrents and the use of force to stop small boats. Kevin O’Sullivan is joined by Lord John Redwood, former Conservative Cabinet minister, to discuss the government’s response to Robert Jenrick’s reported remarks about using force. Kevin argues that reducing crossings is not enough, declaring: “We want the numbers to stop.” Lord Redwood backs tougher border controls, legal changes and action against people-smuggling networks, including tracing their money and prosecuting boat organisers. However, he rejects the suggestion of opening fire on unarmed migrants, calling it “way over the top”. #smallboats #illegalimmigration #immigration Have you got a story?
