On December 5, 1957, Orson Welles answered Universal's recut of Touch of Evil with a 58-page memo explaining, scene by scene, what the film needed. The memo didn't change the release, and the studio's 94-minute version went out as half of a double feature. It took until 1998 for an editor to rebuild the film from those pages. Payback, released in 1999, went through something similar, with roughly 30 percent of it rewritten and reshot without its director. #movies #touchofevil #payback #directorscut – Timestamps – 00:00 Two Hours Wasn't Enough — Justice League, Zack Snyder's Justice League 01:35 Eight Tries Earned RoboCop's R — RoboCop (1987) 02:28 One Ad Freed Brazil — Brazil (1985) 03:50 Fourteen-Year-Olds Recut Halloween — Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers 04:39 The Star Rewrote Payback — Payback (1999) 05:55 Censors Added Extra Guests — Eyes Wide Shut 07:07 Tangerine Dream Replaced Goldsmith — Legend (1985) 07:57 Milk Powered Iron Man — Iron Man 3 08:40 Argento Paid for Europe
