British nationals accounted for around one fifth of the increase in UK payroll employment between 2014 and the end of 2025, according to Centre for Social Justice analysis of HMRC figures. The net increase was approximately 3.7 million: 734,000 among British nationals, 408,000 among EU nationals and 2.5 million among non-EU nationals.
