The Rugby League World Cup kicks off at Allianz Stadium with the Kangaroos facing the Kiwis in front of Sydney's largest test match crowd in over 50 years. The Australian team features several World Cup debutants including Jacob Preston, who has overcome injuries and contract sagas to reach representative honours, and Jack Bostock, the Dolphins and Blues winger who went undefeated all season until the preliminary final. The new-look Kangaroos squad prepares to compete in what promises to be a more challenging tournament than previous years.
