North Korea has escalated tensions on the Korean Peninsula by test-firing two types of submarine-launched strategic cruise missiles, signalling a major push to strengthen its underwater strike capabilities. State media KCNA released images of the missile launches, with South Korean analysts suggesting they were conducted from the Kim Kun Ok Hero, a modified diesel-powered submarine unveiled by Pyongyang in 2023.
