Tasmanian senator Jacqui Lambie has called out Australian Defence Force culture after a recording device was found in a female-only cabin on an Australian navy ship. The device was discovered on HMAS Leeuwin while it was docked in Cairns in October 11, prompting Lambie to raise the issue in parliament on Wednesday. Speaking to ABC News Breakfast, Lambie said the military hadn't been able to "clean up" its culture and called for an independent body to be established outside of the ADF to deal with the matter. "The only way we're going to be able to stop this is by taking it out of defence's hands and having an independent body that actually deals with this," she said. "I want to see people that come and make those complaints, whether they're male or female, that they are removed off base, or their perpetrator is, but they need to be separated."
