U.S. forces destroyed an Iranian-affiliated vessel in the Gulf of Oman on Oct. 6, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said Wednesday. CENTCOM alleged the vessel was conducting surveillance and targeting U.S. Navy ships. The crew was removed before the strike, and repatriation efforts are ongoing. CENTCOM also accused Iran’s Revolutionary Guard of targeting civilian vessels and American warships in regional waters. Iran has repeatedly warned it will respond to any renewed U.S. attack with greater force, according to Iranian state media.
