A cargo ship sank after striking a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps navy said Wednesday, Oct. 14. Iranian state TV shared the footage and quoted a guard statement saying the ship was traveling on what it called an "illegal and dangerous" route when it hit the mine. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, meanwhile, said that a registered cargo vessel had been hit by an “unknown projectile” as it went through the strait Wednesday. All 21 crew members on the vessel were evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
