UK Chancellor John Healey has praised Britain’s banks, amid fears from City bosses that he could raise their taxes. Healey told Bloomberg Television the industry is a big economic contributor and part of Britain’s economic “crown.” But he refused to fuel speculation about possible tax changes ahead of his October 28 budget. Healey is expected to offer short-term cost-of-living support while maintaining his pledge of fiscal discipline. The UK Chancellor is currently at an IMF summit in Bangkok where the fund yesterday singled out the UK for its progress in bringing down borrowing. He spoke to Bloomberg's Lisa Abramovicz. -------- Watch Bloomberg Radio LIVE on YouTube Weekdays 7am-6pm ET Saturday & Sunday 7am-10am ET WATCH HERE: http://bit.ly/3vTiACF Follow us on X: https://twitter.com/BloombergRadio Subscribe to our Podcasts: Bloomberg Daybreak: http://bit.ly/3DWYoAN Bloomberg Surveillance: http://bit.ly/3OPtReI Bloomberg Intelligence: http://bit.ly/3YrBfOi Balance
