Wales’s National Poet, Hanan Issa, has been dropped from the ceremony after Senedd officials rejected a poem she had written for the occasion. Her poem, "To Grow", included references to Gaza and transgender healthcare. Issa claims officials rejected it because the ceremony was intended to be “apolitical”. She subsequently submitted a revised version using more abstract language, but this was also rejected.
