What are the differences between glacial, volcanic, tectonic, and artificial lakes? In this lesson for high school students, we take a closer look at one of the freshwater systems: lakes! We will embark on a field trip to four different lakes and use clues to determine how each is formed. We will then use what we know about geological processes to predict the stability of each type of lake. Along the way, we will consider the properties of lakes and how they affect lake ecosystems.
