Emmanuel Levinas (1906-95), a Lithuanian philosopher and naturalized French citizen, was one of the great contributors to ethics in the twentieth century. Levinas ' ethical approach centers on the importance of “the Other”, which surpasses our ability to comprehend. He critiques Western philosophy's efforts to understand and connect the other to oneself. Instead, Leveenoss emphasizes the concept of infinity, a moment of transcendence that is unveiled through “the Face”. In the face-to-face encounter, an individual discovers their responsibility to the other, which is unbalanced and takes precedence over any moral principles. This responsibility is the most crucial obligation one has. ★★★ TIMESTAMPS ★★★ ▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀ 00:00 Introduction 01:02 The Other 03:09 Critique of Western Philosophy: Totality and Infinity 05:22 Responsibility Thank you for watching this animated video about #Levinas Please subscribe to my channel 🚂✔️: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPt_l44
