Today I built a hardwood comb out of Purpleheart, with an oak inlay running through the spine to help keep it straight and stable. Was it perfect? No. Did things go wrong? Absolutely. Did we finish it anyway? You bet. In this video, I walk through the entire process — from rough cutting on the bandsaw to refining the teeth and shaping on the belt sander. Purpleheart is a beautiful but challenging hardwood to work with, and adding the oak inlay brought its own surprises along the way. There were alignment issues. There were sanding challenges. There were moments I questioned the plan. But that’s woodworking — solve the problems, adapt, and keep building. Sometimes the goal isn’t perfection. It’s finishing what you start. #Woodwor
