U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Monday that the U.S. didn't start this war with Iran, "but under President Trump, we are finishing it." "Crazy regimes like Iran, hell-bent on prophetic Islamist delusions, cannot have nuclear weapons. It's common sense," Hegseth said, as the United States and Israel's strikes on Iran continued for a third day. "This is not a so-called regime change war, but the regime sure did change. And the world is better off for it," he said, adding that "This is not Iraq." This is not endless." The U.S. and Israel launched a surprise bombing campaign against Iran on Saturday, which Iranian authorities say killed more than 200 people in Tehran, including Khamenei and several high-ranking Iranian officials.
