A flight bound for Detroit diverted to Montreal Wednesday night after U.S. customs barred the Air France plane from entering the country over concerns about possible exposure to the Ebola virus. The U.S. border agency said it was taking “necessary measures” to protect public health in coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention after a passenger from the Democratic Republic of Congo boarded “in error” amid flight restrictions tied to the Ebola outbreak. As Brayden Jagger Haines explains, health officials are on alert as a deadly outbreak of a rare type of Ebola called Bundibugyo ravages the Congo and neighbouring Uganda.
