Former foreign affairs and defence committee chair Michael Danby says the Albanese government must cut back on government expenditure. “He has to get back to what Peter Walsh, and Paul Keating, and Bob Hawke did, and that’s cut expenditures,” Mr Danby told Sky News host Rowan Dean. “Most of the fiscal consolidation that happened under the earlier Hawke era came from cutting back government expenditure.”
