Concerns that the Ebola virus has arrived in Canada were proven unfounded on Friday when results came back negative from a suspected case. The U.S. diverted a Detroit-bound flight to Montreal on Wednesday over worries someone had come into contact with the deadly virus. Canada’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Joss Reimer, announced on Friday that the individual was “assessed by a Public Health Agency of Canada quarantine officer and found to not have any symptoms.” Reimer also announcing that Canada began advanced border screening earlier in the week. This comes as soccer fans from around the world are expected to converge on the U.S. and Canada as the FIFA World Cup begins. Global’s Nathaniel Dove reports.
