Hezbollah MP Hussein Hajj Hassan has compared ongoing peace talks between Israel and the Lebanese government to a historical analogy involving negotiations between Winston Churchill and Adolf Hitler during World War II. In a rare interview with Sky News, Mr Hassan spoke shortly before being added to a US sanctions list. He questioned how Lebanon’s authorities could be expected to defend the country and said the government had previously sought a ceasefire through the United States 34 days earlier.
