Sky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell discusses possible backdown on parts of the Albanese government’s controversial budget. “It is my clear understanding, despite an expectation there might be some kind of backdown on parts of Jim Chalmers’ controversial budget, that backdown, if it comes, won’t be happening this week,” he said. “But the government is continuing to consult, and this means that I believe there will be changes around the capital gains tax treatment of startups and potentially even small business more generally before this thing passes the parliament.”
