Deputy Liberal Leader Jane Hume has commented on the teal independents now forming an alleged breakaway centrist party and said their integrity has gone “out the window”. “I think this is probably the worst-kept secret in Canberra, isn’t it?” Ms Hume said. “The teals have been a party since they began, they have had the same funding sources, they’ve had the same campaign teams, they’ve even worn the same colours. “Worse than that, they’ve had the same slogan, and the slogan was about integrity, has now simply … gone out the window. “The idea that they have gone out and said to their electorates that they are community independents that were going to do politics differently but have now demonstrated that they’re going to do it exactly the same way speaks volumes.”
