Sky News host Peta Credlin claims Labor’s handling of capital gains tax changes and parliamentary censorship has backfired spectacularly on the government. “Labor will be forced into an embarrassing backdown on some aspects of their changes to capital gains tax, quite possibly the new death taxes too,” Ms Credlin said. “The PM's office clearly came down as hard as it did on the Speaker, Milton Dick, after he allowed the use of the word lie in the chamber one day, and then banned it the following day. “Labor hard heads know that branding the prime minister as a liar will hurt them, and that's why they have fought so hard to shut it down. “So, where did it land with Phil Thompson then? Well, given the fact that Labor has the numbers in the house, a motion passed comfortably to suspend him from the parliament for a 24-hour period. “This is a monumental own goal from Chalmers and Albanese. Their colleagues know it. And so too do voters.”
