Halifax police say the search for a missing newborn baby has led to the discovery of human infant remains, with two people being charged in connection with the child’s death. Authorities were called Friday evening about the baby’s mother, who was in life-threatening condition after having seemingly just given birth. She was rushed to hospital and remains in critical condition. “Two of the four [suspects] were charged with concealing a body, obstruction, and indignity to remains,” Halifax Regional Police Public Information Officer Martin Cromwell said in a Monday update. Though Cromwell confirmed the suspects are not known to police, it was confirmed that a 23-year-old man – who is a relative of the baby’s mother – and his 26-year-old wife were the two charged and were set to appear in Halifax provincial court on Monday. It is believed the mother’s condition is the result of a medical emergency rather than physical violence. An investigation is ongoing. For more info, please go
