India's largest-ever trade delegation has arrived in Canada, with both sides hoping to deepen economic ties and strike a free trade deal this year. Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal is being joined by more than 100 business leaders during the trade mission. Michael Kugelman from the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada says, “it's hard to overstate the market potential of India. It is now the most populous country in the world.” Meanwhile, many in Canada’s Sikh community feel Ottawa is rewarding bad behaviour since the murder of Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar is still unresolved and Canada’s intelligence agency still warns India is one of the main perpetrators of foreign interference within Canada. As Jillian Piper explains, it marks a stunning reversal from years of frosty Canada-India relations.
