One Nation MP Barnaby Joyce says he never knew there were “that many people with walking sticks" in a criticism of the Albanese government's handling of the NDIS. “This whole budget is based on the fact that they ran out of money, they gave away too many trinkets, they can’t actually make the assets on the Australian balance sheet work,” Mr Joyce told Sky News Australia. “A million people on the NDIS, I never knew there was that many people with walking sticks out there. “The average cost is over $65,000 per person. “If you are on the NDIS, you should be able to look someone in the eye and say that you should go to work for me because I can’t work. If you can’t look at the person, the taxpayer, in the eye that actually is going to have to go to work and pay for you, maybe you shouldn’t be on the NDIS.”
