Parti Quebecois Leader Paul St. Pierre Plamondon called Mark Carney’s comments “really out of line” after the prime minister suggested the Alberta separatist referendum was a “dangerous bluff.” “I think the premier of Alberta, Danielle Smith, is just doing her job as a premier, saying that, of course, they are free to consult their population, and of course they're a parliament free of making any laws that deem fit for their objectives. So for Mark Carney to all of a sudden start saying that it's a bluff, it's dangerous, I think it's really out of line.” Plamondon said. Alberta is moving toward triggering a vote on separation after Smith announced last week that an October referendum question will ask Albertans if they want to remain in Canada or start the process to hold a binding referendum on separation.
