Apparently, director Kane Parsons, who is better known online as Kane Pixels, was just 16 years old when he created The Backrooms, and that’s honestly hard to believe once you see the quality of it. The nine- minute horror short, which is by the way free to watch on YouTube, uses a grainy found- footage style that feels disturbingly real. Over the past four years, it has racked up more than 78 million views and part of what makes it so unsettling is its old- school VHS aesthetic that you certainly won’t expect from a 16 year old budding director.
