This means the stage is now set for an intense general election between Paxton and his opponent, Democrat James Talarico. Paxton won with 62.6% of the vote, according to the Associated Press. He unseated John Cornyn, a four-term Senator, after receiving President Donald Trump's endorsement a week before the runoff.
