At a press conference on Thursday, Halifax police said the 23-year-old mother at the centre of an urgent newborn search has died in hospital. Officers were first notified Friday after the woman arrived in critical condition appearing to have recently given birth, prompting a search for the missing infant. The remains of a newborn were later found Sunday in a wooded area off Old Coach Road in Goodwood. Police say both deaths remain under investigation as the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service works to determine the causes and manners of death. A man and a woman have each been charged with concealing the body of a child, indignity to human remains and two counts of obstruction.
