At a press conference on Thursday, federal ministers say parts of Canada could face an elevated wildfire risk this summer as above-normal temperatures and dry conditions are expected across much of the country over the next three months. The government says 65 wildfires are currently active nationwide, including six considered out of control. Ministers warned western Canada may face heightened wildfire danger in July, while Ontario and Quebec could see increased risk in June. Ottawa also announced new investments in firefighting aircraft, emergency response systems and wildfire preparedness efforts ahead of the peak summer season.
